Our subjects
Convinced that it is with beautiful raw materials that we weave the most beautiful products, Soieries du Mékong attaches great importance to the choice of its yarn suppliers.
Silk
This empress of noble materials, whose manufacturing secret was jealously guarded by China for more than 2,500 years, is the only natural textile fiber whose thread is continuous. It is taken from the cocoon of the Bombyx caterpillar, also called “silkworm”, and its appearance varies depending on the way in which it is woven or worked.
Wool
Wool is a natural animal fiber, derived from sheep's fleece. It is flexible, very resistant to use and with good thermal protection. The silk-wool blend gives the scarf a matte-shiny appearance, a warm touch and a comfortable fit.
Cashmere
Cashmere is a natural animal fiber, made from goat down raised in Mongolia and the Himalayas. This material is light, soft and warm. The silk-cashmere blend gives the scarf greater softness and an elegant feel.
Linen
Linen is a natural plant fiber, from a 100% eco-responsible sector. It is very resistant and thermoregulatory. The silk-linen blend presents a lively surface thanks to the subtle irregularities of the slub linen thread, a lustrous appearance, a fresh touch and a light wear.
Cotton
Cotton is a natural plant fiber. It is soft, durable and absorbent. The silk-cotton blend offers a more matte surface, a cool touch and an airy fit ideal for mid-season or summer.
